NSW Governor’s Visit Friday, 28th July 2024

Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC, Governor of New South Wales met with Deputy Commissioners, Commanders, staff and volunteers of Marine Rescue Port Stephens, where she received an overview of the role and operations of the Communications Centre and a demonstration of radio and rescue vessel capability in Shoal Bay.

Volunteer Expo Port Stephens.

The Hunter Volunteer Centre will hold the Port Stephens Volunteer Expo 2024 at Nelson Bay Bowling & Recreation Club on Wednesday, 26th June 2024, from 10.00 am to 2.00 pm. Everyone is welcome to come and learn about volunteering and the opportunities in Port Stephens.

First Responders Week (12th June 2024)

The Port Stephens units of Marine Rescue, NSW Police, NSW Ambulance, SES and NSW Rural Fire Service were invited to talk and engage with the pupils of the Salamander Bay Child Centre. This was an initiative of the organisers of First Responders Week celebrations.

Newcastle Neptunes Spearfishing Club – APPC Easter Spearfishing Competition
 
The Australian Pacific Coast Championships return to Easter weekend along with the fish auction in support of Marine Rescue Port Stephens.

The spear fishing competition concludes with the fish auction.

At the conclusion of another successful weekend competition, Newcastle Neptunes Spearfishing Club auction the catch and donate the proceeds to a local charity. Marine Rescue Port Stephens were the beneficiaries of this year's auction. The Unit thanks the Newcastle Neptunes Spearfishing Club for their support and contribution which will assist in maintaining a vital search and rescue operation for our community.

Commissioning of PS30 “Shirley Clark”
 
There was a great turnout for the commissioning of PS30 ‘Shirley Clark’ at d’Albora Marina, Nelson Bay on the 21st October 2023.
The new $667,000.00 Rescue Vessel will provide a significant boost to the Port Stephens community.
The new vessel, funded by the NSW Government and community donations, was today named the ‘Shirley Clark’ in honour of the 92-year-old Port Stephens unit member, one of Marine Rescue NSW’s longest serving members.

All the volunteer members of the Marine Rescue Port Stephens Unit wish to thank everyone who purchased tickets in the raffle. The much-needed funds will help assist with the running costs of the rescue unit.
 

Sea Survival Training with the RAAF
